Hall Bench/Jelly Cupboard Made From Reclaimed Barnwood

19 Jun

Keith Beaver of Pennsylvania  created this beautiful entry piece using reclaimed barn wood!  To create the paint effect you see here he started with New England Red, and then added a layer of Black.

Rub away the top layer of paint very slowly using a high grit sandpaper to help the red color show through. Choose areas of the piece that would normally receive a lot of wear from use– like knobs and edges.

Beautiful job! What amazes me is how authentically aged the piece can look because of the color layering and sanding technique.  In the image below you can see just the solid “British Red” color on the far right column, forth one down.

Thank you Keith for sharing with us!

I have lived a long time and am convinced that God governs in the affairs of men. If a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? I move that prayer imploring the assistance of Heaven be held every morning before we proceed to business.- Benjamin Franklin
