Looking around my house, decorated for Christmas, I realize that the pieces that mean the most to me are ones that have a story attached to them. The wooden ornaments my kids painted, the Christmas decorations my mom bought for me as a surprise, the well-worn book Gift of the Magi I’ve had since childhood.
We invite you this year, to create your own heirloom for your home or family. The options are endless, and only you know what would be a perfect fit.
A hope chest for a teen or young adult that will soon be moving out?
A framed photo of a loved one that you know another would enjoy?
Wooden toys for an expected baby?
A special piece of furniture from an adventure far from home?
Once you have chosen, think about adding character with stain or paint. Beyond color, you can also add depth and texture with a variety of painting techniques. Don’t be intimidated- we’ve got a few short video tutorials, and our techniques can generally be done with items you have around the house.

Think of the possibilities! We hope you’ll enjoy dreaming a bit about items that, added to your family, could be passed on from one generation to the next.
“I grew up with Old Village paints. My mother painted everything with it. She only had to paint trim or furniture once, because the color and and finish lasted forever! I use Old Village too. It is unbeatable in covering and it wears like iron.”
We love knowing that we’re bringing beauty and incredible quality that will last and last into homes! From us at Old Village Paint, we wish you a very Merry Christmas.
